I have often heard people talking about staying in your lane often in reference to doing what you are capable of as oppose to what another person is doing as a way of competing. As I was thinking more about it this week, I was reminded of The Parable Of The Talents particularly the following verse:
“And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey” (Matthew 25:15 NKJV).
The gifts God gave us are not for us but to fulfil a certain vision. It is about how you manage and steward what it is you have. Going back to the parable in Matthew 25, we read that the servant who was given five talents went and traded them and got another five talents. Similarly, the one who was given two went and gained two more.
God made us all uniquely different and gave us different gifts according to the purpose He has for our lives. So for one, they might have a gift of singing whilst another has a gift writing. Whatever it is, God gave you that gift to fulfil a certain purpose. When we are out of sync with the purposes of God, this is when ungodly characteristics start to fester up in our lives such as jealousy, malice and a devisive spirit. We are most effective when we are doing what God called us to do.
“To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away” (Matthew 25:29 NKJV).
Are you a good steward of what God has entrusted into your care?
