Hello and Happy New Month!😊
I know, it has been a minute😅. So what have I been doing? Life lol but most importantly getting back to the heart of God😊.
One of the things I realised during my times of devotion and something which has been weighing heavily on my heart for a while and God was just highlighting to me is how it can be so easy to fall into a comfortable routine. Before you know it, you have lost complete focus of the vision of what it is that made you start doing what you are doing in the first place.
So the question I want to ask you, which I have often found asking myself over the past few months is; what are the motives behind the stuff you do?What fuels your passions? Truth be told, whatever you are doing at that particular time may seem right and appropriate but that does not necessarily mean it is pleasing to God or it is His will or what you are supposed to focus on in that season.
Proverbs 16:2 (AMP) reads,”All the ways of a man are clean and innocent in his own eyes [and he may see nothing wrong with his actions], But the Lord weighs and examines the motives and intents [of the heart and knows the truth]“. This therefore means that whatever we are doing must be balanced and in line with the word of God.
As the above scripture says, it is only God who can truly reveal and weigh the true motives of a person. Sometimes some of the challenges or situations we end up dealing with in life are a direct consequence of wrong motives and a bad heart.
So how do you know if your intensions are fueled by the right motives?Ask yourself:
- does it line up with the word of God?
- have you prayed about it?
- have you asked God to examine your heart and motives behind that thing?
- what has God said about it when you prayed?
- are you really at peace about it?
You can only begin to know and understand the heart of God when you spend time with Him reading His word and in prayer. As you grow in this, God begins to purify your heart and refine your motives.
My challenge for you which is something I am constantly challenging myself is to continuously pray and ask God to examine your heart, reveal anything in you that is contrary to His word and help you to work through whatever it is so that your heart is right and your motives are pure.
God loves you and so do I!😊❤
