Don’t Be Quick To Judge

I came across a story on Instagram and everyone was weighing in their thoughts about their observations. I was intrigued by one of the responses which said; “if they had prayed about it, it shouldn’t have happened.” In their minds, it was a foregone conclusion; a causal and effect result.

Granted, there are times where we pray for God to intervene in a situation, and He does. How about those situations you pray and seek God about something, and the outcome isn’t how you intended it to be?

In John we read about the man who was paralysed from birth. The debate was around why he was born like that. One person said, “it is because the parents had sinned“. Again, a simple deduction of cause and effect. However Jesus says that the man was paralysed “so that the glory of God can be seen”. (John 9:1-3)

Another example is of Job. Job used to offer sacrifices to God to petition God for his children in case they had sinned against God. It was a daily practice for him. I dont think he could have predicted the plight he was going to fall into. When his friends came to see him following the tragedy he experienced, the friends yet again concluded that Job had a sinned, which is why he was going through that situation! (Job 4-23)

As humans, naturally, we want things to make sense so that it (whatever that may be) becomes pallatable in our minds. That is not how God works. He uses the seemily foolish things of this world to confound the wise so that His power and glory can be revealed.

So before you judge, pray and ask God to give you wisdom before you speak and let us be a source of strength and encouragement for each other when our faith is tested.

God loves you and so do I❤️
