What will it be?

The following story in Jeremiah 42:1- 44:23 tells of the interaction between Jeremiah and the army officers as well as the people from the greatest to the smallest. It goes as follows (paraphrased)

Them: “Jeremiah please beg the Lord to show us what to do and where to go (42:3).

Whether we like it or not, we will obey the Lord our God to whom we send you with our plea. For if we obey Him, everything will turn out well for us (42:6)”.

Jeremiah: “Alright I will pray to the Lord your God and I will tell you everything He says. I will hide nothing (42:4)

10 days later

Jeremiah: “God said – ‘stay in this land,   If you do, I will build you up and not tear you down. I will plant you and not uproot you. For I am sorry for all the punishment I have had to bring upon you(vs 10). Don’t go to Egypt'(vs15)

Them: “You lie! The Lord our God hasnt forbidden us to go to Egypt! Baruch, son of Neriah, has convinced you to say this, so we will stay here and be killed by the Babylonians or be carried into exile.” (43:2-3)

So they refuses to obey the Lord’s command to stay in Judah and went to Egypt…

Jeremiah: “God says – ‘no one has chosen to follow my law and the decrees I gave to you and your ancestors before you. I have made up my mind to  destroy every one of you’ (43:10-12)”.

Them: “We will not listen to your messages from the Lord. We will do what we want. We will continue to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and sacrifice as much as we like…” (44:16-17a)

Jeremiah: “The very reason all these terrible thing have happened to you is because you have burned incence to idols and sinned against the Lord refusing to obey him and follow his instructions, laws and stipulations” (44:23)

Remember, no good can ever come from deviating from the ways of the Lord.  Surrender all and let Him lead your life. He’s always got the very best in store for you.

God loves you, and so do I ❤️.
